September 2-3, 2026: Hotel Soleil des Tsingy (Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park)

We went to Tsingy de. Bemaraha National Park and hiked the Grand Tsingy trail the first day and walked the Little Tsingy the second day.

It was about an hour and a half drive from the lodge to the Grand Tsingy trail. We took our lunch with us and ate it halfway thru the hike. We wore our climbing harness so we could clip into the guide ropes. I’m very happy we had them as we went over suspension bridges(where I never looked down), used vertical metal ladders, walked up rock steps, and went thru caves and vertical rock chimneys. It was pretty hot and I got pretty tired but completed the hike. A fun end to the hike was to see the Forest kingfisher just before we finished the hike.

It was a few minutes drive to river where we went on a dugout canoe ride for a couple of hours before walking on the little Tsingy trail. No climbing harnesses were required for this trail. We saw birds, chameleons, lemurs and lizards along the river and on the walk.
