September 4, 2026: Hotel Soleil des Tsingy (Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park) to Morondava

Today was another long drive on dirt roads- almost 12 hours- to go from our lodge in Tsingy to Morondava. Only one ferry this time, no nearby forest fires, very interesting scenery, another amazing lunch at the Mad Zebu restaurant and fascinating other travelers.

We stopped by the Avenue of Baobabs and waited a while for sunset before driving to Morondava.

Just before we entered Morondava we reached a paved road so that was fun.

Unfortunately my sore throat returned last night- thankfully no fever- and another doctor visit was in order. He came to our hotel room and prescribed more and different medicine. I don’t know how visitors to the United States handle it if they get sick- for sure the doctor won’t come to the hotel.

River crossing- we drove from the road over the ferry to the other side- the ferry never moved

More traffic at Baobab Alley- there is nice parking for the guide vehicles while their passengers photograph the Baobabs
